Markus Meier

Game Designer, Art Enthusiast & Professional Rubberduck

Hey there, my name is Markus Meier and I am currently studying Games in Germany for a Master Degree with a focus on technical art and 3D. I love to optimize workflows, to communicate between code and art and explore efficient and scalable solutions.

My journey started with drawing comics, moving forward into video editing, which then lead to its logcial combination: Animation. When I enrolled into University I was set foof into pursuing this. I would dabble with Unity every once in a while but would never get the grip of it.

Fortunately I met amazing Tutors and Professors that introduced me to Game Design and the Unreal Engine and by now I am obsessed with it.

I am still fascinated by narrative driven experiences and have great appreciation for well executed animation, but also love to think about what makes something fun and enjoyable. My goal is to be able to construct experiences that allows players to view the world from a differnt perspective. I believe this is the great strength of video games as an art form.

Highlighted Projects

"Art is a language that can communicate beyond words, especially with interactive formats such as Video Games, on an emotional and formal Level. As a Game Designer I can create a world, a experience, which allows to take on a new perspective. I have experienced how Video Games have changed me, have raised me, have educated me. I am fascinated by the potential of Video Games as a medium of Art and strive to to enable the same kind of experience, especially for younger generations."
