This is my first Game Project and what got me into Game Design. You play an astronaut who crash landed onto an alien planet. The task is simple:

  • Explore
  • Get those energy orbs
  • Get back to the ship

My original intention for this project was to learn 3D animation as a complement to my experience with 2D. However, this quickly faded into the background as I enjoyed other areas of development. These were mainly the creation of 3D assets, the creation of a landscape or world, level design, particle systems and later on the development of game mechanics.

I had discovered that there is footage of Venus, captured by the Verena Missions. This sparked inspiration to work toxicity and acid as a theme. I also liked the idea of gravitational anomalies.

While animation was my original interest, I came to realize that the needed work to be able to animate a character can be vastly underestimated. By the end of project my rig was not optimal and I didnt have enough time to to fully dive into it. This was the first time I worked with skeletal meshes, rigging and weight painting (I skipped UV wrapping).

Sebastian helped me a lot with learning how to rig and animate inside Blender.
